Support from independent organizations

In the Netherlands, several organizations specialize in helping people with gambling addiction. This support is professional, anonymous, and free of charge. At these organizations, you can share your story and receive guidance in taking steps to overcome your addiction.

The Central Register for the Exclusion of Games of Chance (CRUKS)

If you are no longer able to control your gambling behavior, you can exclude yourself from all Dutch gambling websites, arcades, and casinos. During a set period (minimum of 6 months), you won’t be able to gamble with any licensed gambling providers in the Netherlands. You can register with CRUKS at: cruksregister.nl

Registering with CRUKS: How it works

Do you want to exclude yourself from Dutch gambling websites, casinos, and arcades? Follow these steps:

  1. Go to cruksregister.nl/Gokstop.
  2. Log in using your DigiD.
  3. Choose the exclusion period (minimum of 6 months).
  4. Review and confirm your details.

Note that your information will not be shared.

Important: CRUKS only excludes you from legal gambling providers in the Netherlands. There are still illegal providers active who pose an even greater risk to your health, as they do not comply with Dutch regulations. Here’s what you can do to prevent access to these providers as well:

  • Gamban allows you to block online gambling providers worldwide. This prevents you from accessing sites outside the Netherlands. Note: this is a paid service.
  • Betblocker.org is a non-profit organization that offers free software to block gambling websites globally.
  • Contact your bank and request to block transactions to specific parties, such as gambling providers.

What happens after you register?

Once your CRUKS registration is complete, you will no longer be able to play on Dutch gambling websites. You will also be denied access to Dutch casinos and arcades.

If you are also using software to block international gambling platforms, you won’t be able to access illegal gambling sites either.

The exclusion period applies for the duration you’ve set. With CRUKS, this must be at least 6 months. You can extend this period later or during the exclusion, but once set, it cannot be shortened.

Excluding yourself from gambling is a strong first step toward regaining control over a gambling addiction—but it’s not the only one. Use the time during your exclusion to seek help and work on taking back control of your life. Reach out to one of the support organizations mentioned above.

How the Remote Gambling Act protects you

Since the legal online gambling market opened, the Remote Gambling Act has been in effect. This law outlines the responsibilities that online gambling providers, such as VBET, have toward players. Some key points are:

  • Player verification – We are required to verify the identity and age of every new player. Only individuals aged 18 and older are allowed to play. Want to take part in certain promotions? Then you must be 24 years or older.
  • Fair rules – Our games of chance come with clear rules that are easy for everyone to access. The odds of winning and the gameplay are fair. We also guarantee that all player winnings will be paid out.
  • Duty of care – As an online gambling provider, we have a legal duty to protect our players. For example, we must verify whether players can afford their losses if they wish to deposit more than €700 per month (or €300 for players under 24).
    We also take action to
detect and address risky behavior, and all players are required to set limits that act as a safety net in case they lose control of their gambling.
  • Preventing fraud and crime – To combat money laundering and other criminal activities, we perform checks when there is reason to suspect suspicious behavior.
  • Protecting young people – As mentioned earlier, you cannot register with VBET if you are under 18. In addition, we do everything within our power to ensure that our content does not reach minors. We encourage parents and others who are often around young people to take steps to prevent them from being exposed to gambling websites and games of chance.

Tools to protect minors

As mentioned earlier, we advise parents and others who are frequently around young people to ensure that minors are not exposed to games of chance. Gambling carries a risk of addiction, and that risk is even higher for young people and young adults, as their brains are still developing.

The law requires gambling providers to play a major role in keeping minors away from gambling platforms, and VBET takes this responsibility very seriously. We do everything on our end to ensure that minors cannot access our services. In addition, we strongly encourage all our players to take every possible precaution to prevent minors from using our platform.

Recommended tools and tips to prevent underage gambling

To minimize the risk of young people engaging in gambling, you can take several preventative measures:

  • Secure your computer(s) and smartphone(s) with a password.
  • Never leave a device unattended if it’s not locked.
  • Keep login credentials for gambling websites and your bank private, and make sure no accounts are set to auto-login.
  • Set up separate user profiles for minors and block access to specific websites using parental control tools such as Netnanny.com. This allows you to block gambling content, as well as other harmful material like pornography.
  • Have open conversations with your children about gambling and the risks it carries.
